Today we are proud to announce the release of Shipfaster UI v.2.3, which includes improve performance, new component properties, responsive mobile views and so much more. We have been hard at work over the past few months to improve the user experience for our existing Shipfaster UI customers.

In this blog post, we will provide an overview of the new updates and improvements included in v.2.3.

Improved performance

Shipfaster 2.3 Simplified

Through customer feedback, we realised that Shipfaster UI v.2.2 was struggling to perform on some devices. This was due to the fact that we had built our components with .Styled components intact. This allowed designers to update styles quite easily, but it came with a cost.

In version 2.3 we decided to pivot away from having .Styled components, which has reduced the file size significantly. Publishing, editing and using Shipfaster UI v.2.3 is now much quicker and light weight.

New component properties

Shipfaster 2.3 - Component Properties

In May 2022, Figma launched Component Properties. Components' properties remove the guessing game from your design system. You are now able to tie components to specific design features to define what parts of them users can modify. This lets you manage things like whether layers are visible and whether an icon or text may be replaced.

You can now modify text, turn items on and off, toggle between variants all within clicks.

Improved icon replacement

Shipfaster 2.3 - Component Swap

With the launch of Component (and instance) swap, we have decided to restructure our icons as seperate components instead of instances. This allows for a better experience when trying to find or scan through your icon set which normally means thousands of ambiguous labels in a dropdown.

Mobile and tablet views included

Shipfaster 2.3 - Responsive Views

We heard you! Many of you have asked for responsive views for our marketing templates. In version 2.3 you will now receive tablet + mobile views for all marketing page templates.

You can easily swap between the different breakpoints with the provided component property.

Shipfaster UI Mini

Based on customer feedback, we understand that not every designer wants or needs to use all the components we have created. Sometimes you may want to flex your creativity and build custom interfaces.

With this in mind, we have included a Shipfaster UI Mini file. This includes only the foundations and a few key components to help you get started with your project.

It's the best if you are looking to design an entirely new brand, without any limitations!

We can't wait for you to give Shipfaster v.2.3 a spin! You can learn more about it here.
